That's why we opened the state's first student credit union in 1972 at Konawaena High School. We now operate five to benefit our ohana's teenage members.
When students are engaged, communities grow stronger. We provide real-life work experience through student credit unions operated at Konawaena High School, Kealakehe High School, Kohala High School, Hilo High School and Honokaa High School. These branches are run by students and available to members on campus, and they're all members of the larger Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union ohana.
These branches promote financial literacy within each school, and each has an operating board of directors and tellers who help students deposit and withdraw money, open checking and savings accounts, and invest in share certificates. It's another way we're helping to position younger generations for future success.
