Important Update for Quicken and QuickBooks Users

Aloha Valued Member,

As part of our upcoming Enhanced Digital Banking upgrade, there will be a change to how Quicken® and QuickBooks® connect with your Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union accounts.

What's Changing?

August 16, 2026, is the last day Direct Connect service will be available for Quicken and QuickBooks users. Direct Connect service will be discontinued on August 17, 2026, in preparation for the launch of our new digital banking platform on August 19, 2026.

Instead, members will use Web Connect, a secure and widely used method for importing account information into Quicken and QuickBooks.

Why Is This Changing?

Our new digital banking platform offers improved security, enhanced functionality, and a more modern banking experience. As part of this transition, connectivity with Quicken and QuickBooks will move from Direct Connect to Web Connect.

While the process will be slightly different, you'll still be able to import your account activity into Quicken and QuickBooks.

What Is the Difference?

Direct Connect (Current Method)

With Direct Connect, Quicken or QuickBooks communicates directly with the credit union's servers.

  • Transactions can be downloaded automatically.
  • No need to sign in to online banking first.
  • Supports additional features such as in-product transfers and Bill Pay.

Web Connect (New Method)

With Web Connect, you will first sign in to online banking and download a transaction file.

  • Download a .QFX file for Quicken.
  • Download a .QBO file for QuickBooks.
  • Import the file into your Quicken or QuickBooks software.
  • No HCFCU login credentials are stored within Quicken or QuickBooks.

What Do I Need to Do?

After the launch of Enhanced Digital Banking, existing Direct Connect connections will no longer work and will need to be disconnected within Quicken or QuickBooks before setting up Web Connect.

For step-by-step instructions on how to disconnect Direct Connect and reconnect using Web Connect, please review the Conversion Instruction Guides on this page. The guides are available to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

Will My Existing Connection Continue Working?

No. Once Direct Connect is discontinued, existing Direct Connect connections will stop working and will need to be removed or deactivated within Quicken or QuickBooks.

Please review the Conversion Instruction Guides on this page for disconnecting Direct Connect and setting up Web Connect.

Future Account Syncing Capabilities

We recognize that many members value Direct Connect for its convenience and automated account synchronization. We are working closely with our new digital banking provider to deliver a secure account syncing solution that offers the convenience and automation members appreciate. We look forward to providing additional updates as this functionality becomes available
