Kailua-Kona, HI – Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU), in collaboration with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines), is proud to support the West Hawaii community’s healthcare system through a $25,000 donation to the Kona Hospital Foundation. This contribution, made in partnership with the Member Impact Fund, will help the Kona Hospital Foundation continue its mission of providing better comprehensive medical services and quality of care for the West Hawaii community.

“It means a lot to us to give back in a way that helps families right here in our own community,” said Tricia Buskirk, President and CEO of HCFCU. “Thanks to the generosity of FHLB Des Moines, we’re able to give even more to the Kona Hospital Foundation and support their mission of strengthening health care access for West Hawai‘i families.”

Joei Feke, Executive Director of the Kona Hospital Foundation, expressed her appreciation: “We are incredibly grateful for this support from HCFCU and FHLB Des Moines. This donation helps us provide our rural community with the state-of-the-art health care it deserves.”

Founded in 1984, the Kona Hospital Foundation raises funds to enhance the Kona Community Hospital’s ability to deliver high-quality medical care for the West Hawai‘i community. Their work includes supporting emergency services, diagnostic and surgical equipment upgrades, and facility renovations that directly impact patient safety, comfort, and outcomes. The Foundation plays a vital role in bridging the gap between state funding and the growing healthcare needs of a rural and geographically isolated population.
