Marketing Coordinator

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Assists the Corporate Development & Marketing Officer with executing marketing functions to meet the operational and administrative objectives of the Credit Union.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Marketing Functions:

  • Maintains and assists with creating features, graphics and content for the Credit Union website, intranet and VideoNet advertising screens
  • Creates, manages and maintains graphical and textual content of Credit Union advertising
  • Maintains adherence to the Credit Union brand image and brand management through internal branch and external advertisements
  • Serves as technical liaison with various departments, including Marketing (website and branding elements)and Human Resources (employment advertisements)
  • Assists with maintaining Credit Union’s website with current and accurate information and keeping abreast with website compliance
  • Assists with providing network and intranet support of marketing forms and documentation
  • Assists the Corporate Development & Marketing Manager to act as a liaison with advertising agencies and other suppliers of creative and marketing services and ensures their output remains consistent with the Credit Union’s goals and corporate image
  • Assists Corporate Development & Marketing Manager with conducting member surveys or focus group meetings
  • Works with vendors who are responsible for developing or creating portions of the Credit Union’s marketing plan
  • Assists Corporate Development & Marketing Manager with research and development of new products including packaging, pricing, and marketing strategies
  • Assists Corporate Development & Marketing Manager and vendors with developing brochures and other collateral for Credit Union products and services
  • Maintains file of market research including competitor marketing strategies and product and service differentiation
  • Executes the Credit Union’s marketing plan. 
Public Relations Functions:
  • Assists Corporate Development & Marketing Manager with designing and developing the “Owners Count” newsletter with vendor, staff and members on a quarterly basis.
  • Assists with coordinating activities at the Credit Union’s annual membership meeting or similar functions
  • Assists the Corporate Development & Marketing Manager in partnership with vendors with implementing the Credit Union’s public relations program, community development projects, and social responsibility commitments:
Miscellaneous Functions:
  • As a member of the staff, answers incoming phone calls; assists members and co-workers as needs arise; and performs work on projects as needed
  • Trains employees in area of expertise when required
  • Completes the required Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training and implements and complies with the BSA policy and procedures
  • Actively seeks opportunities to cross sell appropriate and applicable products and services offered by the Credit Union
  • Other duties may be assigned

Mental Requirements:

  • Requires creative writing and oral communication skills, attention to details, application of sound decision-making principles, concentration, logical thinking, resourcefulness, good judgment and responsiveness in a timely manner
  • Requires basic computer skills with desktop publishing
  • Is able to handle multiple assignments by prioritizing projects, follow-through and meeting deadlines

  • Is able to apply basic mathematical skills
  • Is familiar with the Federal Credit Union Act, Rules and Regulations and other related federal and state laws as they relate to advertising and marketing
  • Is familiar with the responsibilities of marketing in a credit union to include documents, policies, procedures, systems, credit union philosophy, history, organization ethical standards and bylaws
  • Is able to establish effective working relationships with members, staff and other organizations
  • Is able to keep abreast of all regulatory and operational matters which affect Credit Union marketing and corporate development
  • Is able to speak in front of groups of people
  • Is able to maintain dedication to high ethical standards of professional and personal conduct in the best interest of the Credit Union membership

 Physical Requirements:

  • Is able to show up to work as scheduled
  • Is able to occasionally lift, carry, push and pull items weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Is able to operate 10-key by touch and type 30-40 wpm accurately
  • Is able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Is able to communicate clearly in person or over the phone and/or in writing
  • Is able to move around the office, primarily on carpeted surfaces
  • Is available for occasional business travel, including land and air travel

Other Requirements:

  • May be required to use personal car to perform Credit Union business
  • May be required to work at different branches
  • May be required to work beyond normal business hours, including weekends
  • May be required to attend seminars or classes to enhance job skills and knowledge
  • Must be bondable and have a clear credit rating
 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school graduate / GED equivalent with three (3) years in marketing or related field; or
  • Business college graduate of an accredited community college in business administration majoring in marketing with two (2) years of experience in a marketing or related field
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook) and creative software (Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
 

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily inside an air-conditioned, well-lighted office setting, and high humidity
  • Will work alone and with others
  • Work environment includes moderate noise level
  • Will have frequent public contact
  • Potential exposure to the threat of violence at any time
