ACH/EFT Clerk I

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
Under the supervision of the ACH/EFT Coordinator, performs clerical duties involving electronic funds transfer (EFT) and automated clearing house (ACH) functions in a timely, accurate manner that provides members and coworkers with quality service. Reconciles accounts in accordance with Credit Union policies and procedures. Maintains monthly transfers and all other assigned accounting duties.

Essentials Duties and Reponsibilities:

ACH/EFT Functions:

  • Processes and balances daily postings of direct deposits and allotments
  • Verifies the accuracy of postings and resolves any discrepancies
  • Records and balances all unprocessed items
  • Posts overdraft notices
  • Issues “stop payments” and unauthorized transactions
  • Processes and corrects all EFT transactions transmitted daily from the Federal Reserve
  • Works with all payroll contacts to coordinate payroll deductions, new member information, corrections, up- dates, changes, etc.
  • Verifies the completion of accurate payroll forms and maintains up-to-date records for the Credit Union on pay- roll transactions
  • Assists in solving member issues or questions about ACH/EFT
  • Enters all rejections, pre-notifications, stop payments, etc. through data processors
  • Utilizes all Credit Union procedures and computer tools to create and generate reports and correspondence
  • Inputs and maintains Assignment of Wages forms and various direct deposit forms
  • Processes and maintains Monthly Transfer forms
  • Handles returned items from the depository bank, updates member accounts where necessary, properly handles funds to be recovered and its documentation. Submits weekly returned checks file to Advanced Fraud Solu- tions-TrueChecks®
  • Submit accounts to collection agency for collection of funds due to a return check.
  • Handles incoming and outgoing wire transfers
  • Sets up member applications for ACH origination. Debit/credit organization’s AOCH
  • Processes Shared Branch Adjustments
  • Reports charge offs to Transworld
  • Complies with federal and state laws, as well as Credit Union procedures and policies
  • Updates all procedures used by the ACH department
 Miscellaneous Functions:
  • Researches member accounts, as required
  • Participates in department meetings to review the status of assigned duties
  • As a member of the staff, answers incoming phone calls, assists members and coworkers as needs arise, and performs work on projects when needed
  • Completes the required Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training and implements and complies with BSA policy and procedures
  • Actively seeks opportunities to cross sell appropriate and applicable products and services offered by the Credit Union
  • Other duties may be assigned
 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Is able to show up to work as scheduled
  • Is able to operate 10-key by touch and type 30-40 wpm accurately
  • Is able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Is able to communicate clearly in person or over the phone and/or in writing
  • Is able to move around the office; primarily on carpeted surfaces
  • Is available for occasional business travel, including land and air travel
  • Is able to establish effective working relationships with members and coworkers
  • Is able to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to twenty (20) pounds
 Other Requirments:
  • May be required to use personal car to perform Credit Union business
  • May be required to work at different branches
  • May be required to work beyond normal business hours, including weekends
  • May be required to attend seminars or classes to enhance job skills and knowledge
  • Must be bondable and have a clear credit rating

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school graduate / GED equivalent with one (1) year experience in accounting
  • Must be knowledgeable of computer system (IBM or IBM compatible), word processor and spreadsheet pro- grams
 Working Conditions:
  • Work is primarily inside an air-conditioned, well-lighted office setting, and high humidity
  • Will work alone and with others
  • Work environment includes moderate noise level
  • May have public contact
  •  Potential exposure to the threat of violence at any time
