HCFCU Raises $26,000 for West Hawaii Community Health Center December 23, 2013The Market Day effort focused on International Credit Union Day and its message, that credit union members are part of a global effort to take the philosophy of people helping people beyond the walls of each credit union and into local communities. The branches’ Market Day featured fresh produce, baked goods, food vendors, silent auction items, crafts and ribbon sales.
The proceeds will help support the Center with their commitment to providing quality, affordable health care to everyone regardless of their ability to pay for services. WHCHC was recently recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for receiving national recognition as a Patient-Centered Medical Home Program. A way of organizing primary care practice that focus on highly coordinated care and long-term participative relationships that are patient-centered. This leads to higher quality and lower costs, and can improved patients’ and providers’ experience of care. Less than 10% of health centers nationwide achieve this recognition and it has been a great accomplishment for WHCHC.
